Joseph, was one of those men who was in the top echelon of Jewish society. He was one of the 70 men who made up the Jewish supreme council. He rubbed shoulders with all those who were in power. He would have had access to the High Priest and in fact, as we read here, he had access to the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate. Joseph, was a man of power, a man of means and as the gospels tells us he was a man who was also good.
