The day after Jesus has fed the 5,000 all the people go again to find Jesus. They even travel across the lake in order to get to him, believing that he could once again feed them. Yet later, when Jesus says you need to believe in me – that is too hard, a step too far or too great a cost. The passage shows us that it is possible to seek Jesus and believe in his power, but be totally lost and worldly-minded. Our belief must lead to submission to him and his ways for our lives as his disciples. There is a question as to whether we truly desire God and love him? Do we continually feed on him as the bread of life? if we do come to him, we will be truly satisfied and receive eternal life!
