Event details

  • Saturday | March 20, 2021 to Sunday | March 21, 2021
  • All Day

We are so excited to have Murray Capill coming to teach and share with us about music with a mission. Make sure you mark the date in your diary and set aside the time to come along, as we look forward all we can learn during this weekend!

Session 1: The Heart of Worship (Saturday 9:00 – 10:30 AM)

We’ll begin the day with some of the Bible’s basic teaching about what worship is and why it matters so much. We’ll see that the mission of worship is for all people to be drawn into glorifying God in whom alone we are satisfied.

Session 2: Music and Song (Saturday 11:00 – 12:30 PM)

In this session we’ll consider the place of music and song in worship, looking at what the Bible says (and doesn’t say) and what the Psalms show us. We’ll see that the mission of music and song is to honour God, build others up, declare the gospel, and express a heart of dependence on God.

Session 3: Worship, Music and the Church’s Mission (Sunday after AM Service)

In this final session we’ll think about how music and worship fit into the mission of the church. We’ll try to identify key principles that should drive our music ministry and we’ll discuss ways of putting these principles into practice. We’ll see that the mission of the church must shape how we sing and make music.
