Daniel 3: 1f A Great Response

We are all pretty good at talking our way out of difficult situations, we call that “rationalising” the situation. The dictionary meaning for “Rationalising” is the following.

“… attempt to explain or justify (behaviour or an attitude) with logical reasons, even if these are not appropriate.”

We are good at rationalising a situation and Daniel’s three friends could have done something similar by bowing before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Yet they did not! The thing is this. They placed obedience to God, laid down in the 10 commandments, as a higher priority to them than obedience to Nebuchadnezzar.

Those commandments again are these…

  1. You shall have no other gods before me…

2. You shall not bow to them or worship them…
